In the village of Goodleigh guests can discover several wonderful walks perfect for those staying with dogs, or enjoy a meal at the excellent New Inn, a pub that serves delicious home cooked food made to order.

A few minutes drive from Goodleigh is Barnstaple, North Devon’s largest town and home to many well-known shops, as well as some great pubs and restaurants. It is in Barnstaple you will find all the main supermarkets, many of which will deliver to Northleigh House. Barnstaple also has its own multi-screen cinema, a leisure centre and a theatre.

The Strand, Barnstaple

Around a 20 minute drive from Goodleigh and you can be surfing the waves at one of the UK’s best beaches, including Croyde, Saunton, Woolacombe and Westward Ho!. All the main beaches on the North Devon coast are patrolled by lifeguards in the peak summer months and provide safe environments for youngsters either splashing in the waves or building sandcastles on the sand. They also offer some great water sports such as surfing, stand-up paddleboarding and sea kayaking, many of the beaches have equipment hire nearby and lessons available for all abilities.

Croyde coastpath

If looking to get out and about and explore North Devon on foot or bike there are plenty of local paths to enjoy including the largely traffic free Tarka Trail, which can be joined in Barnstaple and is a great way to see the local landscape. For walkers the South West Coastpath is easily accessed and has some wonderful walks taking in the coastal scenery and native wildlife.
